CFISD Begins Construction of New Fine Arts Center
Construction on a new CFISD Performing and Visual Arts Center started on Hwy. 290 and Matzke Road. The facility is state of the art, covering 87,000 square feet and located in the middle of the district next door to Cy-Fair High School.
The building will have a small theater, a visual arts room and a lobby that will be utilized as an art gallery for students’ artwork. The building was made possible by the 2019 bond package, which was voted on by members of the community. The district intends to host UIL competitions in the building and allow the schools to perform in a new environment with the high demand for school auditorium space.
On the same plot of land, a new five-story administration building is also under construction. Complete with a new board room, meeting center and capacity for 800 employees. The new building will be named after CFISD Superintendent, Dr. Mark Henry.
“I am touched and humbled by this honor from the Board of Trustees,” Dr. Henry said. “There is no greater honor for me than to receive a building namesake in a premier school district, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. This is a special community where every campus and support facility is dedicated to supporting student success, and I am proud to call it ‘home.’”
Other bond facilities under construction include middle school number 20 and elementary school 59 both next to Bridgeland, as well as a new agricultural barn on Westgreen Dr./Cy-Park High School.
