A lyric from this song says, “Black man, black mail, throw the brother in jail.” This emphasizes that police throw black men in jail because of their race. Another lyric in this song, “But if Martin Luther was living / He wouldn’t let this be,” implies that Martin Luther showcased that everyone should be treated equally. His ability to spread his ideas of change gained momentum among his fans, who eventually pushed for equality and change.
Another name that comes to mind when considering an artist’s influence is singer Pharell Williams. His song “Happy” shows his idea that nothing can bring him down because he is too happy. The idea that Williams makes in this song impacts society to follow in the footsteps to be happy and ongoing. This mostly resonates with many of his young fans and influences them to reach their goals and aspirations.

His songs are from his experiences of being oppressed in life due to poverty and racial discrimination.
